The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is warning consumers about a rise in products offering to boost fuel efficiency. It’s no surprise that so many products are being offered, considering the high price of gas. Those prices are blinding consumer’s better judgment and causing them to be tricked by claims such as those made by the much hyped Platinum Gas Saver that it can “boost fuel economy by 22%.”
The Platinum Gas Saver has been getting a lot of attention because of that outrageously high claim. The FTC talks about how to actually save gas, faulty advertising claims by gas-saving products, and lists products tested by the Environmental Protection Agency (including the Platinum Gas Saver) which show no improvement in gas mileage. The Consumer Report’s Platinum Gas Saver test also showed that it had no effect on fuel economy.
Instead of spending $119 on the Platinum Gas Saver, or any other device advertised to save gas, check the EPA’s list of products that don’t work and consider taking steps that have been shown to improve gas mileage time and again.

I have been using Platinum GaSaver for 1 month, and so far I have been averaging 11 miles a gallon in my fully loaded with tools Ford E-350, in which I drive ap. 30,000 miles a year in. That is a huge increase from the 7 MPG I was getting before. Because of this increase I will save $6600.00 in one year, alone! In addition, prior to installing the GaSaver the engine light had been lit ever since I bought the van used from a shuttle company that had put 300,000 miles on the vehicle. Within 40 miles after installation, the light extinguished and has yet to come on, again! Also, the gas pedal seems more responsive, and engine idles alot smoother. All I know at this point that due to gas prices hovering round $4.25 in my area, this thing has been a Godsend, so far. OH!! also, my truck quit pinging or knocking in lower rpm and under load within 100 miles after installation! I am stoked!!

I purchased and installed the Platinum Gas Saver on my brand new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van. It does not even have 3,000 miles on it yet. Checking my gas mileage before installing the device showed I was getting 17.5 MPG. I have now gone through 2 full tankfulls with the device and I am getting 20.5 MPG. Not quite the 20-22% I was told I would gain, but I’m VERY happy, and my vehicle is not even fully broken in yet!
